November 2: The Legend of White Woman Creek

Day 176

Today I held a program at the library that was a one-woman folk opera called The Legend of White Woman Creek. The songs and story were about a woman in Kansas who was captured by the Cheyenne, married into the tribe and then lost her husband and baby in a raid by the Calvary. The performance is based on a true story. Katie Hartman performed as the ghost of Anna Morgan Faber and I don't know if I've ever been so amazed by a live performance. Not only was the music touching and haunting, but I was bedazzled by Ms. Hartman's talent and dramatic performance as well.

I'm purging a blue t-shirt today.
