July 10: Eagle

Day 61

The other day, Clint told me that he was going to select two things from the basement for me to purge. He not only completed, but exceeded this task. Clint emerged from the basement with FOUR things for me to purge. I am so proud of him.

Clint's high school mascot was the eagle, therefore upon his graduation he received an eagle figurine. What college freshman doesn't want to display a small figurine of an eagle in flight in their dorm room? It says "Hey, I'm patriotic AND I'm kitschy."

Last time we were in Ness City, we were in Clint's old bedroom, where he has a wooden eagle statue. I said, "Hey, why do you have that?" He said "I won it at a basketball game when I was little. I used to put it in bed with me." Let me repeat, it is a wooden, eagle statue. I thought this was adorable. He went on "I slept with it until it started poking me." I love Clint for loving that wooden statue enough to try and cuddle with it at night. I hope he never wants to purge the wooden eagle.

More on eagles: As we were driving through Missouri on Monday we saw a bald eagle! This is the second time in a row I've seen a bald eagle on a Missouri trip. Maybe the bald eagle is Peter's spirit animal?
