When my son was born, I pumped a lot of breast milk...far more than he could consume while we were in the hospital. The hospital froze my extra milk until we could take it home. When we left the hospital (otherwise known as the happiest day of my life) we accidentally left several bottles of milk behind. Since we do not live close to the hospital, we've been unable to retrieve the milk, so the hospital asked if I'd like to donate to their new milk donation program. I said yes, then I went through the whole process of becoming a donor. Since Peter was born via C-section, I was on a prescription pain reliever for about three days. After I went through the whole donor process, my milk was rejected because it fell within the time frame that the milk may have been affected by the pain reliever. :( In small amounts, the pain reliever does not affect babies, but during the milk donation process the milk is concentrated in order to be of more caloric benefit to the babies. This means the pain reliever is concentrated too. This was disappointing news, but the hospital did send me a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my time and effort. They are still going to use my milk to study how medicine is passed to babies through milk, so I guess it's not all for naught.
I'm purging a blue sun dress today. It is literally a sun dress, as it has built in UPF. I wore this dress a lot two summers ago, but didn't wear it at all this past summer.
