Evidently, I have a penchant for purchasing individual dishes that I believe to be "statement" pieces, but that have zero utilitarian capabilities. Today's purge is yet another example of this habit. When I bought this plate at the thrift store, my husband specifically told me that he doesn't mind my spending money at thrift stores, but that he wants me to actually get some use out of what I buy (on this trip I bought today's purged plate and another random plate that I got rid of before the Purge Pledge started). Clint does, in fact, treasure whatever he happens to buy at a thrift store no matter how needless I believe his purchases to be, whereas I am more apt to buy something one week and then turn around and donate it back the next week.
On Sunday night, I had my father-in-law and Clint's sister+family over for dinner. We grilled chicken kebabs and had a variety of other delicious summertime fare like homemade lemonade and deviled eggs. It was the first time I've hosted a summer get-together at our house and it was a great time.
Henry, Tim, Craig, Anna and Maggie. Love you! |
